Wow guys, this is the most exciting thing that has been on this board since all those Romak 3's blew up a while back! Bill your post was rude and I wasnt the only one who thought so. I felt you were acting like an A$$. However after reading this, I can truly say "Sir you are not acting like an A$$, you ARE an A$$." Shall we start from the top? Why not!
I know it is quite possible to shoot 5/16" (that's .3125)3 shot groups on occasion with an accurate rifle. However to be able to do so consistently, on demand, is another thing. Consistent .2 and .3 guns are of the benchrest variety, there is a world of difference between a consistent .3 gun and .75 gun. Plus it is rude and stupid to make a blanket statement that if your .308 SVD doesnt shoot this well it's the operator. An M-24 sniper rifle cant do that with M118 special ball! I agree the rifle is accurate, I shot 5 shot groups of 3.25 inches at 400 yards with one. However I do not think the system is capable of consistently, on demand shooting to that level of accuracy (.3125 MOA), my opinion.
I had 2 maybe 3 phone conversations with you, period. You were very interested in informing me of all sorts of things. At this period in time I was researching the PSL so I was interested in what you had to say. Whenever I talk to an "expert" I take notes, it ensures I get the facts exactly as told, you dont forget anything, and you know where the info came from. So, sorry dude, you may have forgot but refering back to my notes its all there in black and white. We did discuss the PSL's 4x 6 degree scope. You stated it was non illuminated and had no infra-red detection capability. This was the commonly held belief, and simply what was in your reference material. I attempted to explain to you the information I had received from Valentin Leatu (a member of the Romanian Alpine Infantry he was one of 6 men selected to field test the PSL in 1979/80. He later competed in the Olympics and defected to the U.S.) You made it very clear that you and Valentin were best friends and that PSL was the name of the scope not the rifle. Wrong answer. Information on this rifle is extremely scarce, I understand that, but I was simply trying to tell you what I had found out about it, which was later verified by Vartan Barsoumian (of K-VAR) to me. The same with the Soviet sniper ammo, info on this ammo is very scarce. Paul J. Martin and Charlie Cutshaw did some valuable work bringing info to light. I have tested and have in my possession ammo made in both 1990 and 1981, from the same source as you received yours. You were adamant about it being called b-11 and b-15, that it was two different loads, and you had never heard of the term 7N1. It was only after I told you that the reason I referred to it as 7N1 was because that is what the RUSSIANS call it that you stopped trying to convince me I was wrong. As an aside I have disected both of these loads, plus I have sent some to the President of an ammunition company who use to design re-entry vehicles for NASA. He carefully dissected them, measured everything, and deduced exactly how the round is designed to function on impact. These loads are identical, bullet weight, design, internal dimensions, internal weights, and velocity. It's a very interesting load, and you will find it discussed on page 94 of David Bolotin's (winner of the Mosin Prize and 13 Soviet medals) SOVIET SMALL ARMS AND AMMUNITION, 1995 edition. It can also be found on pages 104 and 121 of Val Shilin and Charlie Cutshaws work LEGENDS AND REALITY OF THE AK. I discussed your thoughts on the ammo with Alan Halla, he speaks Russian (along with 4 other languages) and came to the US in 1968 from Czechoslavakia. Since his country was overrun he had been interested in and collected Soviet small arms, he is a well respected authority and a noted gunsmith. He said what you are refering to is the date code. In that spot on my case of ammo there is a cyrillic "F" (a circle with a line through the center) -11-81. Remember B-30 ammunition was refered to as such as B stood for "broneboinaya" or "armor(piercing)" with the load being adopted in 1930. You state that they are "2 different SVD rounds as we all know by date of manufacture" why do they have to be 2 different rounds? They are virtually identical if you pop them apart!!
Calling you for all kinds of info? Again I've only spoken with you 2 or 3 times, and that was enough to know you were not someone I wanted to have anything to do with! You made it sound like you were gona put Century Arms out of bussiness by the amount of product you moved and the connections you had. Talk like that made me wonder, so I did some checking up on you. The couple people in the industry that HAD actually heard of you stated that you were just a small time dealer. Such grandoise claims on your part did not sit well with me. The clincher was when I put a post on the board saying that I.O.R. made an excellent scope mount for an SVD for anyone looking for one and I immediately got an e-mail from you bluntly stating to repost and list you as the source. I had to think "why didnt he just post that he had them? why demand me to do it?" I did repost, and never had anything to do with you since. It's unfortunate but as a gunwriter you quickly find all too many people want either fame or free advertising or both. You are correct I have never fired nor even handled a yugo M-76, it is a rare piece and one you are lucky to have in your collection. I also did not take you up on your offer either, not interested in the least.
You are correct, I am not a famous big name gunwriter like Massad Ayoob or Charlie Cutshaw.......but then I don't pretend to be either. I'm simply a guy who after getting out of the Army worked in a factory until crippled on the job. I started writing a couple of years ago. As I posted previously I admit I've had a lot of help by a lot of good people. I started writing to get some accurate info out to people. Period. By NO means do I own hardly ANY of the weapons I test!!!!!! I write FULL TIME for 5 magazines. Currently I have sitting in my office an SR-41, a Tromix AR with a .50AE and .44 mag upper, a Steyr SBS Tactical, with a Krebs .308 RPK and Steyr compact Model S enroute!! This is one months work, I do this every month, do you really think I buy all this stuff? I get assigned articles and weapons are sent, other times I come up with article ideas. When a gun is really cool, like a recently tested CZ-527 bolt gun in 7.62x39 then I buy it, otherwise it goes back. I am by no means rich, but I love what I do. As for the SVD's, sorry dude, but yes I actually do own a Russian SVD (although a Tiger returned to military format) and a brand new unfired Chinese .308. However I did not own a .308 when last we talked, but after testing one I purchased one to have. SOOO no luck there dude. A dealer? Hell no, I'm not a dealer!! I'm a writer!! Does being a Dealer make you superior to the rest of us?!! How stupid! Its just a vocation.
    7.62x54R Sellier&Bellot Match? I have always stated it has a 174 grain Sierra HPBT Matchking projectile, BC is .499. More info? Muzzle velocity from a Romak 3 is 2685 fps at 70 degrees F with an Oeher 35P. 100 yds 2507 fps, 200 2336 fps, 300 2171 fps, 400 2012 fps, 500 1860 fps, 600 1713 fps, 1000 1231 fps. Drop with a 300 yard zero, 100 +4.8 inches, 200 +5.6, 300 dead on, 400 -13, 500 -34.6, 600 -66.25, 1000 -335.4 Powder weight is 46.5 grains of an IMR type powder similar to 4895 or 4320. Notice this load stays over 1200 fps out to 1000 yards!
Cranberries?!! Sir you show your ignorance once again by your feeble attempt to mock my home state of Maine. While cranberries are indeed grown in Maine, they are not grown in my part of the state and they are not what Maine is known for. Its BLUEBERRIES you moron. And lobster of course. As you know lobster are basically an ocean going seagull, a bottom feeding scavenger, if you want i'll send yah down one, you should get along well with it.
If anyone does a good job giving out accurate info, then great. I'm sure you are very knowledgable, especially on Yugo's, but I have found few people that consider themself an "Expert" worth anyones time. Anytime you think you know it all, you stop being teachable, and show your own ignorance. That is the impression of you I received from our conversations.
Apology? Sure but not to you! But its too bad that the guys on the board have to put up with such crap, however I'm sure they dont mind as its probably good entertainment.
Take me behind the barn? Geez I didnt know you cared!
Beat me to a pulp? Hmmmmm anyone who would beat someone to a pulp because they said they were acting like as A$$ has some serious problems. Plus it takes a real big man to threaten a disabled guy, but hey don't let that stop you chummy. Just a word of wisdom from I Kings 20:11 " And the King of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Do not let him that girds on his armor boast himself like one who loosens his armor". You smart enough to figure that one out chummy?

We can continue if you like, or we can simply agree that we
dont like each other, up to you.

[very interestings posts i read them both, style of writing
is good info is good,]i will not chime in just
observing, because i would not want somebody on this board
    to call me a obnoxious whatever,take care,krinkov aka/you
    know.

Btw zrovna u Stingera prisna restrikce omezuje i naprostou vetsinu tech nerozumnych :)
    ocs 4.7.2006 16:07  10371

    vlada 4.7.2006 15:46  10370
Proc?
Btw jenom u letiste ti litaj dostatecne nizko.
    ocs 4.7.2006 15:40  10369
Proč by proboha měl kdo sundávat něco u letiště?!?
    vlada 4.7.2006 15:34  10368

A kde?
