V USA promítali v několika kinech před filmem krátký dokument o Williamsovi a jeho hudbě ve Star Wars.
Jeden fanoušek to natočil přímo v kině!

Stejně jako u The Force Awakens i tentokrát dalo Disney Music celý soundtrack z nového Star Wars filmu na Youtube!

Tak jsem se vrátil z kina a upřímně mě to moc nenadchlo, ani jako film, ani hudebně.
Celé to na mě působilo hrozně roztříštěným a neuceleným dojmem, a to jak příběhem, tak i hudbou.
Použití některých známých motivů a hudebních sekvencí z klasické trilogie mě přišlo tak nějak až moc vykonstruované, násilné a místy až rušivé.
Nové postavy mě moc nezaujaly, což platí i o jejich hudebních motivech.
Ale to samozřejmě může být jen první dojem.
Hudba v The Force Awakens mě poprvé v kině taky takřka nezaujala (vyjma dvou momentů), a pak jsem se do ní v průběhu následujících měsíců zamiloval.
Takže vynášení nějakých soudů si nechám na později.

Jsem zvědav na vaše postřehy ke Star wars, po včerejším shlédnutí za hudbu lehké zklamání, stejně jako filmově tak hudebně potěšily nejvíce staré klasické prvky, jinak rutinní zářez

The music on this one was, I feel, vastly superior to The Force Awakens but at the same time, a lot of it owes everything about it to Force Awakens. Like "Jedi Steps," the version of "Jedi Steps" in this movie...I could be wrong obviously because it's first impression, but I feel like that's gonna be the breakout track that defines this trilogy in the end. And you only get it at the end of Force Awakens so like, "Yeah, okay" but when you hear it, I think there might have been cellos added or something, it was longer, but it has more of a somber tone, more of a deepness...just anyways, I don't wanna David Collins it up too much cause I can't, but it's completely a deeper recording of the same leitmotif and it's just vastly superior, I thought.

It has really nice swells throughout it and there's a lot of it in this. Just awesome swells all throughout it that tie really nice with certain scenes. When you get that feeling when music swells and they're trying to pull at you, this movie actually did that to me a few fucking times! And I have no heart! Sometimes they do that to you and it actually offends you because the composer wants to sell you something and "I'm not buying it." Rian Johnson and John Williams were selling the same thing, it was at the right moments.

Finally, the lifeblood of Star Wars…the music. John Williams employs the themes introduced to us in The Force Awakens, which have now fallen in line as story guiding vehicles as much as the classic themes from the original trilogy and prequels, masterfully blended and applied seamlessly into the narrative in a way that only he can achieve without pulling you out of the scenes. The epic fortes and crescendos dancing their way through the score’s pages pacing this heavily layered non-stop adventure! New themes didn’t come pouring out as they did in The Force Awakens, because frankly we didn’t really need many, though there is a new theme for Rose that stood out in particular. The “March of the Resistance” is used perfectly in one spot, elevating the power of the scene, and vaulting it up my list as one of my favorite compositions. We also get a return of the “Jedi Steps” theme that brought us to the emotional end of Rey’s journey to find Luke in The Force Awakens.

The Williams score is pretty solid as one would expect. I saw it in a great theater and it really sold the music well. That said, I enjoyed the mixture of new themes with old themes. There’s a version of The Jedi Steps that seriously blows away the version in The Force Awakens. I honestly left The Force Awakens being a little hard on the score and then I came around to it. I left The Last Jedi wishing I had the score on me. That said, there weren’t any new leitmotifs that really stood out to me on my first viewing but scores tend to stick with me or rub me the wrong way after repeatedly viewing them.

Kupodivu kritikové hudbu chválí, fanouškové z ní moc nadšení nejsou.
Nejvíce si stěžují na to, že tu nejsou skoro řádné nové hudební motivy.
Hudební téma získaly prý pouze dvě nové postavy - Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) a Amilyn Holdo (Laura Dern).

Continuing with the positive, John Williams score is masterful. I absolutely love the continuation of his classic themes with the addition of the new themes from “The Force Awakens” and now “The Last Jedi.” The more and more I hear his themes for Rey and Kylo Ren, the more I fall in love with them. When I first saw “The Force Awakens,” I wasn’t blown away by his new music, but it’s grown on me and it fits beautifully into the franchise.
